Terms of Service
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Welcome to Simple Book Builder. These Terms are an agreement between you and Skynet Technologies, Inc., doing business as Simple Book Builder ("we", "us", "Company"). By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, placing an order, or using any part of our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years old to use our services.
2. Description of Service
Simple Book Builder provides an AI-powered platform for creating personalized books. Our service includes:
- Selection of book templates
- Customization through questionnaires
- AI-generated text content and cover artwork, and, where you choose an interior we compose without AI, that filler content
- Ready-made stories — a manuscript we wrote in advance and license to many customers, with the names you give us substituted in
- Ready-made classics — a public-domain story we adapted by hand, once and in advance, and license to many customers, with the names you give us and the pronouns you choose substituted in, and with no AI-generated text
- Personalized Bibles — the King James Version or the Berean Standard Bible text, reprinted word for word as complete books with no AI-generated text, personalized on the cover, title and personal pages
- The Book of Enoch — R. H. Charles’s 1917 English translation, reprinted word for word as one complete book with no AI-generated text, personalized the same way
- Digital proof review and approval
- Physical book printing and shipping
- Digital editions (downloadable EPUB and PDF copies of a finished book; a journal made only of writing pages comes as a PDF only)
- Audiobooks (a downloadable MP3 of a finished book, narrated by a synthetic voice)
3. AI-Generated Content
3.1 Nature of Content
Book content is generated by artificial intelligence systems from your inputs. Cover artwork is always AI-generated. If you choose an interior we compose without AI — our filler styles, which are produced deterministically by our own software rather than by an AI model — that text is filler content, and the AI-specific statements in this section do not describe it. If you choose a ready-made story, the interior was written in advance and is licensed to many customers rather than generated from your questionnaire; the statements below about accuracy and dramatization still apply to it, but it is not written from your answers. If you choose a ready-made classic, its text is a public-domain work that we adapted by hand before you ordered: no AI system writes or changes any of it, either for your book or in advance; we substitute the names you give us and the pronouns you choose into it; and the statements in this section about AI-generated text do not describe it. Its cover art, and any page art it prints, is still AI-generated, and the book credits the original authors on an About page at the front. If you choose a Personalized Bible, its text is the King James Version or the Berean Standard Bible, whichever you choose, reprinted exactly as published: no AI system writes or changes it, it cannot be edited, and the statements in this section about AI-generated text do not describe it; its cover art is still AI-generated. All of that is equally true of the Book of Enoch, whose text is R. H. Charles’s 1917 translation, printed word for word without his editorial marks, section headings and notes, as the book’s About This Text page describes. Where our editing features allow, you may revise portions of the text, and those revisions become part of your book. While we strive for quality and appropriateness, AI-generated content may:
- Contain factual inaccuracies
- Include unexpected or unintended elements
- Vary in quality and style
- Not perfectly match your expectations
- Include creative storytelling details — everyday settings, small actions, and dialogue written as full scenes, which may not reflect events exactly as they occurred. Where the story is generated from your questionnaire, these scenes are built around the answers you gave; in a ready-made story they are not
- Produce cover art and illustrations that do not accurately depict, or that imperfectly resemble, any person, pet, or photo you provide
Your book is a creative, dramatized work inspired by the answers you provide — it is not a factual record, and scenes may include imagined details that were not part of your answers. A ready-made story is not written from your answers at all; it is a manuscript we wrote in advance, and only the names and any details you supply are substituted into it. A ready-made classic is not written from your answers either: it is a public-domain story we adapted in advance, and it is our adaptation, not a word-for-word reprint of the original.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content. Where you provide a photo for cover artwork, we do our best to capture a likeness, but AI image generation is inherently unpredictable and we do not guarantee that the resulting artwork will resemble the subject. AI-generated text and imagery may also unintentionally resemble existing copyrighted works, real individuals, or other protected content. You are responsible for reviewing all content before approving it for printing.
3.2 Content Review and Approval
You are solely responsible for reviewing and approving all content before it is printed. By approving content, you confirm that:
- You have carefully reviewed all text and images
- The content is acceptable to you in its current form
- You understand how your book’s content was produced, and that AI-generated content may include creative storytelling details that did not literally occur
- You accept full responsibility for the approved content
3.3 Content Restrictions
You agree not to upload, create, or attempt to generate content that:
- Is illegal, harmful, or promotes violence
- Contains hate speech or discrimination
- Infringes on intellectual property rights
- Contains explicit, pornographic, or sexualized content
- Sexualizes or exploits a minor in any way — strictly prohibited
- Depicts or impersonates a real person (including a public figure) without their consent, including "deepfakes"
- Uses a photo of someone who has not consented, or a child who is not your own without their guardian's permission
- Violates any applicable laws or regulations
These restrictions, and the rules for photo uploads, are detailed in our Acceptable Use Policy. We use automated moderation and reserve the right to refuse service and cancel orders that violate these restrictions. We remove content that appears to be child sexual abuse material and may report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and law enforcement as required by law.
4. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Providing accurate and complete information
- Keeping your contact information up to date
5. Ordering and Payment
5.1 Pricing
All prices are displayed in USD and are subject to change without notice. Prices exclude applicable sales tax and any shipping, which are calculated and added at checkout; the total shown at checkout is the final amount you will be charged for that order. A purchase sold by our reseller Link (sections 5.5, 6.1 and 6.2) is priced and charged by Link, which may show it in your currency and add your local tax; its checkout shows that final amount.
5.2 Payment
Payment is processed securely through a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Your card details are sent directly to that processor and we never receive or store your full card number. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge the specified amount for your order, or, for a purchase sold by Link, authorize Link to charge it. A digital edition, audiobook or credit purchase we sell is first authorized on your card and charged only once we confirm it is a United States sale; if it is not, the authorization is released, nothing is charged, and the purchase continues through Link (or, when it came with a printed copy, the printed copy is checked out on its own).
5.3 Order Confirmation
An order is confirmed only after successful payment processing. You will receive an email confirmation with your order details. We may refuse or cancel any order at our discretion (for example, suspected fraud or a violation of these Terms).
5.4 Custom-Made Goods; Chargebacks
Each book is custom-made and printed on demand from your inputs and your approval. Once you approve the final proof, the order is final and non-refundable except as set out in our Refund Policy. Your recorded approval (with timestamp and IP address) is your authorization to print and charge.
If you have a billing concern, please contact us first so we can resolve it. Initiating a chargeback for a properly fulfilled, approved custom order is a breach of these Terms; we may dispute such chargebacks with your approval record, recover related fees and costs, and decline future service.
5.5 Credits
Credits are a prepaid balance for use on the Service. Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash. Promotional or bonus credits may be adjusted, expired, or revoked at our discretion, including in cases of abuse or suspected fraud. Refunds for purchased credits, if any, are governed by our Refund Policy.
Where you buy credits from decides who sells them to you. If you buy them from the United States, we sell them: your card is first authorized, and it is charged only if your billing address is in the United States, you are connecting from the United States, and your card was not issued outside it; otherwise the authorization is released, nothing is charged, and you are offered our international checkout instead. If you buy them from outside the United States, or from a connection whose country we cannot detect, our reseller Link sells them to you as seller of record: Link may charge you in your own currency, adds or includes the tax your country requires, sends your receipt, and the charge appears on your statement under LINK.COM. Link may refund a purchase it sold within 60 days under its own refund policy.
5.6 Promotional Codes
Promotional codes, coupons, and similar offers are revocable at our discretion, have no cash value, and are not transferable or resalable. Unless we state otherwise for a specific offer, only one promotional code may be applied per order. We may cancel or adjust orders and charges where a code is abused, obtained improperly, or mispublished.
6. Shipping and Delivery
Shipping times and costs vary by destination and are displayed at checkout before you pay. We currently ship to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, except that a book with lined, dot-grid or blank journal pages ships to the United States and Canada only. We are not responsible for delays caused by:
- Incorrect shipping information provided by you
- Carrier delays or service disruptions
- Events beyond our control (weather, disasters, etc.)
- Customs or import processing, where it applies to your order
A Personalized Bible printing the King James Version is sold and shipped to addresses in the United States only, whether printed, as a digital edition or as an audiobook; one printing the Berean Standard Bible is sold wherever our other books are. We use the approximate country your connection comes from, as our network provider reports it, to decide whether you are offered the King James Version. A cart holding a King James Version Bible can be checked out only to a United States address. Before you approve its proof, you may switch a Personalized Bible between the two texts at no charge (to the King James Version only from the United States); the book is then set again in the new text and comes back to you to review and approve.
The Book of Enoch is sold and shipped to addresses in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada only, whether printed, as a digital edition or as an audiobook. The approximate country your connection comes from decides whether you may start one, and a cart holding one can be checked out only to an address in one of those countries.
6.1 Digital Editions
A digital edition is delivered as a download and ships nothing. No shipping is charged on it, and the shipping terms above do not apply to it.
Where you buy a digital edition from decides who sells it to you, the same way as for credits (section 5.5). If you buy it from the United States, we sell it: your card is first authorized, and it is charged only if your billing address is in the United States, you are connecting from the United States, and your card was not issued outside it; otherwise the authorization is released, nothing is charged, and you are offered our international checkout instead. If you buy it from outside the United States, or from a connection whose country we cannot detect, our reseller Link sells it to you as seller of record: Link may charge you in your own currency, adds or includes the tax your country requires, sends your receipt, the charge appears on your statement under LINK.COM, and Link may refund a purchase it sold within 60 days under its own refund policy. A digital edition can be added to an order for a printed copy only when you are ordering from the United States for delivery there; otherwise you buy it after that order, on its own, at the same add-on price.
A digital edition is an EPUB and a PDF of your book, except for a journal made only of writing pages (lined, dot-grid or blank), which comes as a PDF only: its pages carry no text for an e-reader to display, so an EPUB of it would be empty. We say so wherever that journal's digital edition is offered, before you buy it.
The files you download are the product. The files themselves are yours permanently. Re-downloading a digital edition from your account is a separate convenience we host for a limited period — twelve months from the date the edition is prepared — after which we delete the hosted copy. It is not a storage, backup, or archival service, and it is not part of what you purchase. You are responsible for retaining and backing up your own copy.
We will email you before that period ends, at the address on your account, so that you can save your files. Your Downloads page also shows the date for each edition from the moment it is ready. If the period does end, your purchase is unaffected and you may restore access at any time from your account for a small number of credits, which begins a new twelve-month period.
If we discontinue the Service or cease operations, access to re-download will end. Where practicable we will give advance notice by email to the address on your account so that you can download your files, but we are not obligated to maintain access to, restore, or otherwise provide your files after that point, and ending re-download access does not entitle you to a refund, because your digital edition was delivered to you at purchase.
Digital editions are non-refundable from the moment of purchase. Your files are prepared as soon as you order and are usually ready within a few minutes; we email you when they are. You are asked to confirm that you understand this before you pay. If a file is corrupt, incomplete, or does not match the book you approved, we will repair or re-deliver it at no charge; that repair is your remedy in place of a refund. See our Refund Policy.
Purchasing a digital edition unlocks that book's content for you but is not a purchase of a printed copy. If you later order the printed book, the first printed copy is charged at the normal first-copy price.
6.2 Audiobooks
An audiobook is a narrated recording of your book, delivered as a single MP3 download. It ships nothing, no shipping is charged on it, and the shipping terms above do not apply to it. Audiobooks are sold the same way as digital editions (section 6.1): by us when bought from the United States, by our reseller Link when bought from anywhere else. They are offered only for books with a written story — a book made with the no-story interior cannot be narrated.
The narration is produced by a synthetic voice, not a human narrator. You choose the voice before you buy and can hear a sample of each one first.
The file you download is the product. The recording itself is yours permanently. Re-downloading it from your account is a separate convenience we host for a limited period — ninety days from the date the recording is ready — after which we delete the hosted copy. The period is shorter than for a digital edition because an audiobook is a much larger file. It is not a storage, backup, or archival service, and it is not part of what you purchase. You are responsible for retaining and backing up your own copy.
We will email you before that period ends, at the address on your account, so that you can save your recording. Your Downloads page also shows the date from the moment the audiobook is ready. If the period does end, your purchase is unaffected and you may restore access at any time from your account for credits, which begins a new ninety-day period. Restoring costs more credits than restoring a digital edition because the recording has to be narrated again.
A restore gives you the same book in the same voice. Choosing a different voice is a new purchase, priced the same way as any audiobook of that book: the add-on price if you have bought, or are buying, a printed copy of it, and the standalone price otherwise. It is not a restore, because it is a different recording we have to produce from the beginning. Buying a different voice replaces the recording we host for you and begins a new ninety-day period.
If we discontinue the Service or cease operations, access to re-download will end. Where practicable we will give advance notice by email to the address on your account so that you can download your recording, but we are not obligated to maintain access to, restore, or otherwise provide your files after that point, and ending re-download access does not entitle you to a refund, because your audiobook was delivered to you at purchase.
Audiobooks are non-refundable from the moment of purchase. Your recording is produced as soon as you order; a full-length book takes a while to narrate and we email you when it is ready. You are asked to confirm that you understand this before you pay. If a recording is corrupt, incomplete, or does not match the book you approved, we will repair or re-deliver it at no charge; that repair is your remedy in place of a refund. Preferring a different voice after hearing the finished recording is not a fault, and is a new purchase rather than a repair. See our Refund Policy.
Purchasing an audiobook unlocks that book's content for you but is not a purchase of a printed copy or a digital edition. If you later order the printed book, the first printed copy is charged at the normal first-copy price.
7. Intellectual Property and Content License
7.1 Your Inputs
You retain ownership of the personal information and responses you provide through questionnaires, and of any text you author or edit using our editing features. By submitting questionnaire responses or edited text, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, store, process, print, and otherwise handle that content solely for the purpose of generating your personalized book content and fulfilling your order.
You represent and warrant that your questionnaire responses and any text you author or edit using our editing features are original to you (or that you have all rights needed to provide them), are lawful, and do not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party. Where your text answers describe or refer to other people, you further represent that those answers are lawful, accurate as you represent them, and that you have any consent needed to include those people in a personalized book.
If you upload a photo for your book cover, or for a page inside your book, you represent and warrant that you own the image or have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use it. You further represent that every identifiable person shown has consented to your use of their image in a personalized book, and that for any child shown you are their parent or legal guardian or have the guardian's express permission. You grant us a non-exclusive license to use, modify, and incorporate the uploaded image into your book's cover artwork, or to print it on the page of your book you gave it for. You are solely responsible for ensuring your uploaded images do not infringe the rights of, and have the consent of, any person shown. Your uploads are also governed by our Acceptable Use Policy.
To the extent permitted by law, you waive any moral rights, rights of attribution, and rights of integrity you may have in the inputs and edits you provide, solely so that we can compose, typeset, print, and produce your book.
Biometric information. We do not collect, scan, store, or use facial geometry or any other biometric identifier (as defined by the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, 740 ILCS 14), and we do not perform facial recognition. Uploaded photos are used solely to make your book: to generate its cover artwork, or to print a photo you gave for a page inside it.
7.2 License to Your Book Content
The Printed Book You Receive
When we deliver a printed book you ordered and paid for, that physical copy is yours. Ownership of the copy is not ownership of the book's content: the text, artwork, design and arrangement remain ours as described in section 7.5, and your right to use them is the license granted below.
License to the Book Content
Upon completing payment for your order, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the book content created for you — AI-generated text and cover artwork, any filler content we composed for your interior, and any ready-made story we assembled for you — for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to the following terms. In this section, “book content” means all of it.
This license covers the content as it appears in copies we delivered to you and in any proof or preview we make available through the Service. Access to proofs, previews, downloads and further copies through the Service is licensed and may be suspended or revoked under section 7.4. Your ownership of a printed copy already delivered to you is not affected by that.
Ready-Made Stories
If you choose a ready-made story, the interior is a manuscript we wrote in advance and license to many customers. We substitute the names you give us — and, on the option that includes them, a few details you provide — into that manuscript, and we generate a cover for your book. Other customers receive the same underlying story with their own names in it, and we reserve all rights to continue writing, licensing, and selling that story to anyone. The story is not written from your questionnaire and is not unique to you. You own the printed copy we deliver; you do not own the manuscript.
A ready-made classic is sold the same way, except that we did not write the story: it is a public-domain work, credited in the book to its original author, that we adapted by hand. We substitute the names you give us and the pronouns you choose into our adaptation, and other customers receive the same adaptation with their own names in it. What we reserve is our adaptation and our edition of the book, not the original work, which no one owns (section 7.3).
Similarity Between Books
Because we license ready-made stories to many customers, and because AI systems can produce similar output for different people, books we produce may resemble one another in text, structure, or artwork. You acknowledge this and agree not to bring any claim against us based on your book resembling another customer's book, or on your book not being unique, provided we have described the product accurately at the time you ordered.
Permitted Uses
- Keeping, displaying, and enjoying your printed books for personal use
- Giving your printed books as personal gifts
- Lending or reading your printed book aloud in a personal, non-commercial setting
- Ordering additional copies of your books through our platform
- Sharing brief excerpts or quotes from your book for personal, non-commercial purposes (such as social media posts about your book)
Prohibited Uses
You may not, without our prior written consent:
- Reproduce, reprint, scan, photocopy, or manufacture copies of your book or its content outside of our platform
- Sell, offer for sale, or distribute your book content in the course of a business, in bulk, or through any retail, wholesale, or online marketplace or storefront
- Publish, upload, or submit your book or its content to any publishing, print-on-demand, or distribution platform, including Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and comparable services
- License, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the book content, or authorize anyone else to do so
- Extract, isolate, or separately use cover artwork or illustrations for any purpose (including merchandise, prints, digital products, or marketing materials)
- Create derivative works based on the book content (such as sequels, adaptations, screenplays, or translated versions)
- Use the content to train, fine-tune, or develop any artificial intelligence or machine learning model
- Remove, alter, or obscure any attribution or notices we include in the book
- Claim copyright ownership over AI-generated portions of the content
7.3 Copyright Limitations
AI-generated portions of your book may not be eligible for copyright protection under current U.S. Copyright Office policy, which generally requires human authorship for copyright registration. This means third parties may not be prevented from using similar AI-generated content. We make no representations or guarantees regarding the copyrightability of your book content.
This limitation is about AI-generated portions specifically. It does not apply to filler content, which our own software composes without AI, nor to the design, typesetting, original template content, or the selection and arrangement of the book as a whole. Those are owned as described in section 7.5, and your right to use them is the license granted in section 7.2. It does not apply to your own inputs and edits either, which remain yours as described in section 7.1.
Public-domain text. The King James Version text in a Personalized Bible is in the public domain in the United States, and the Berean Standard Bible text has been dedicated to the public domain by its publisher. R. H. Charles’s 1917 translation of the Book of Enoch is in the public domain in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Neither you nor we own any of these texts, and nothing in these Terms restricts your use of that text itself. Our rights, and the license in section 7.2, cover the design, typesetting, cover and personal pages of the book.
The original work a ready-made classic adapts is in the public domain in the United States. Neither you nor we own it: its text, as its author published it, is free for anyone to copy, and nothing in these Terms, including sections 7.2 and 7.5, restricts your use of that original text. Our adaptation of it (the changes we made to the original) and the design, typesetting and cover of our edition are ours, and your right to use them is the license in section 7.2.
7.4 License Termination
Your ownership of printed copies already delivered to you is permanent and is not affected by revocation, suspension, or the closure of your account. Your license to use the book content in those copies likewise continues. However, we may suspend or revoke your access to proofs, previews, digital downloads, and the ability to order further copies through the Service, and may revoke the license for any other use, if:
- You violate any of the prohibited uses listed above
- You breach these Terms of Service
- The content is found to infringe upon the rights of a third party
Upon revocation you must cease the prohibited use and stop reproducing or distributing the affected content. You are not required to destroy or return printed copies already delivered to you, and we will not ask you to.
7.5 Our Intellectual Property
The following remain our exclusive property and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws:
- Our website design, branding, logos, and trade names
- Book templates, questionnaire structures, and template configurations
- AI prompts, generation pipelines, quality assurance processes, and underlying algorithms
- Our proprietary software, source code, and technology platform
- Filler interiors and the software that composes them
- Ready-made stories we assemble, including their structure, sequence, characters, and setting (for a ready-made classic, our adaptation of it, not the public-domain original)
- The design, typesetting, and layout of every book we produce, and the selection, coordination and arrangement of each book as a whole
You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works from any of our proprietary technology or content. You may not attempt to extract or replicate our AI prompts, template structures, or generation processes.
You may not use any automated means — including crawlers, scrapers, or bots — to access, collect, or copy any part of the Service or its content. You may not use the Service, our books, or any content obtained from us for text and data mining, or to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or develop any artificial intelligence or machine learning model. You may not use the Service or anything obtained from it to build, or to assist anyone else in building, a competing product or service. These restrictions apply whether or not the material is protected by copyright.
7.6 Marketing Rights
We may use anonymized, non-identifiable examples of generated books (such as cover thumbnails or content excerpts with personal details removed) for marketing, promotional, and demonstration purposes. No personally identifiable information from your questionnaire responses will be used in marketing without your explicit written consent.
If you do not wish for any part of your book to be used in anonymized marketing examples, you may opt out at any time through your notification settings or by contacting us through our support portal. Changes made through your settings take effect immediately.
7.7 Confidentiality of Our Materials
Our AI prompts, template configurations, generation pipelines, quality processes, and ready-made story materials are confidential and are our trade secrets. If you gain access to any of them, whether through the Service or otherwise, you must not disclose, publish, or use them for any purpose other than your permitted use of your own book.
7.8 Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Service, we may use them without restriction and without owing you anything. Feedback is not confidential.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- Our total cumulative liability for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
- We are not liable for the accuracy or appropriateness of AI-generated content that you have reviewed and approved.
- We are not liable for any use of the books you create.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Our services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Without limiting the foregoing, we make no warranty that AI-generated content will be free from errors, bias, unintended content, or similarities to existing works. You acknowledge that AI technology is inherently unpredictable and that results may vary.
We make no representation or warranty that AI-generated text or artwork is original, or that it does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate the intellectual property, publicity, privacy, or other rights of any third party. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties regarding generated content, express or implied, including the warranty against infringement implied by Section 2-312(3) of the Uniform Commercial Code and any equivalent provision. We also make no representation that generated content is unique or that similar content will not be produced for others.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Simple Book Builder, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates, and our printing partners, suppliers, service providers, subcontractors, and technology providers, from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:
- Your use of our services or any books created through our platform
- Content you approve for printing, including any claims that such content infringes upon, misappropriates, or otherwise violates the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party
- Your violation of these Terms, including commercial use of book content that section 7.2 does not permit
- Any dispute between you and a third party relating to your book content
- Your misrepresentation of any information provided to us
We will notify you of any claim for which we seek indemnification and may, at our option, assume sole control of its defense and settlement, in which case you will cooperate with us at your expense. You may not settle any claim in a way that imposes any obligation or admission on us without our prior written consent.
This indemnification obligation will survive the termination of your account and these Terms.
These Terms are between you and us. No one else may enforce them, except that our printing partners, suppliers, and subcontractors may enforce this section as third-party beneficiaries.
11. Account Termination
11.1 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for any reason at our sole discretion, including but not limited to:
- Violation of these Terms of Service or any of our policies
- Commercial use of book content that section 7.2 does not permit
- Fraudulent activity, including chargeback abuse
- Copyright infringement or repeat copyright infringement
- Creating content that violates our content restrictions (Section 3.3)
- Any conduct we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful to our business, other users, or third parties
11.2 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support. Account deletion is permanent. If an order is still being printed or shipped, the details needed to deliver it are kept until it ships, then removed, as described in our Privacy Policy.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination of your account, whether by you or by us:
- Your right to access and use our services ceases immediately
- Printed copies already delivered to you remain yours. Your license to use the book content in those copies continues and is not ended by termination, and you are not required to destroy them
- Access to proofs, previews, digital downloads, and the ability to order further copies may be revoked for cause under section 7.4
- Any pending orders may be canceled and refunded at our discretion
- We are not obligated to provide copies of your content after termination
- Sections 3.2, 5.4, 6.1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.4, 13, and 14 survive termination
11.4 Repeat Infringers
We have adopted and will reasonably implement a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. See our Copyright/DMCA Policy.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via email to the address associated with your account before the changes take effect. Non-material changes (such as formatting or clarifications) may take effect immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
13.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute proceeding, you agree to first contact us through our support portal and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
13.2 Binding Arbitration
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and Simple Book Builder agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or our services shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if the claims qualify. The arbitration shall be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will take place in the State of Illinois, or at your election, may be conducted remotely (by videoconference or telephone). The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
13.3 Class Action Waiver
You and Simple Book Builder agree that disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, both parties waive any right to a jury trial. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.
If this class action waiver is found unenforceable as to any claim, or as to any request for public injunctive relief, then the agreement to arbitrate in section 13.2 does not apply to that claim, and that claim will be resolved in court. This class action waiver may not be severed from this section. If it is found unenforceable in its entirety, then section 13 does not apply to the dispute.
13.4 Exceptions
Nothing in this section prevents either party from (a) bringing an individual action in small claims court, or (b) seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.
13.5 Opt-Out
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to us through our support portal within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. If you opt out, you and Simple Book Builder may still resolve disputes in court as described in Section 14.
13.6 Time Limitation on Claims
Any claim or cause of action arising from or related to these Terms or our services must be filed within one (1) year after the event giving rise to the claim. Claims filed after this period are permanently barred. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
13.7 Consumers Outside the United States
If you live in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or Canada, nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right or remedy you have under the mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence, and nothing in this section requires you to arbitrate where your local law does not permit it.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles. For disputes that are exempt from arbitration, for which you have validly opted out of arbitration under Section 13.5, or where the arbitration agreement in Section 13 is found to be unenforceable, any such disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
15. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, supply chain disruptions, internet service failures, or acts of third parties.
16. Electronic Communications
By using our services, you consent to receive communications from us electronically, including emails, notifications on our website, and messages through your account. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications we provide electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
17. Third-Party Links and Services
Our services may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as our payment processor, print fulfillment partners, or AI service providers). We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies.
18. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by us.
19. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or by operation of law.
20. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Copyright/DMCA Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Simple Book Builder regarding your use of our services. These Terms supersede any prior agreements or understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein.
21. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
22. Changes to the Service
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where a change would prevent us from delivering something you have already paid for and not yet received, we will either deliver it or refund it. Credits you have purchased and not spent remain redeemable, or refundable, if we discontinue the Service.
23. Export Controls and Sanctions
You may not use the Service if you are located in, or are a resident of, a country or region subject to comprehensive economic sanctions, or if you appear on any restricted-party list maintained by a government with jurisdiction over us. You represent that you are not, and are not acting on behalf of, such a person.

Change Log
- October 23, 2026: Added ready-made classics: section 2 lists them; section 3.1 states that their text is a public-domain work we adapted by hand, with the names and pronouns you choose substituted in, that no AI writes any of it, that their cover art is AI-generated, and that the book credits the original authors; section 7.2 states that other customers receive the same adaptation and that we reserve our adaptation, not the original work; section 7.3 states that the original text is public domain, free for anyone to copy and outside our license; section 7.5 limits our claim to our adaptation.
- October 19, 2026: Added the Book of Enoch: section 2 lists it; section 3.1 states its text is R. H. Charles’s 1917 translation, reprinted with no AI-generated text, and cannot be edited; section 6 states it is sold and shipped to the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada only; section 7.3 states its text is public domain and outside our license.
- October 4, 2026: Personalized Bibles now print the King James Version or the Berean Standard Bible (sections 2 and 3.1). Section 6: a King James Version Bible is still sold and shipped to the United States only, a Berean Standard Bible wherever our other books are, and before approval a Bible may be switched between the two texts at no charge. Section 7.3: the Berean Standard Bible text is public domain too. Sections 5.1 and 5.2 now say that a purchase sold by Link is priced and charged by Link, and that a download or credit purchase we sell is authorized first and charged only for a United States sale.
- October 3, 2026: Sections 5.5, 6.1 and 6.2: credits, digital editions and audiobooks bought from the United States are sold by us on a card authorized first and charged only for a United States sale; bought from anywhere else they are sold by our reseller Link as seller of record. A digital edition or audiobook joins an order for a printed copy only when it is ordered from and delivered to the United States. Section 6: a book with lined, dot-grid or blank journal pages ships to the United States and Canada only.
- October 2, 2026: Added Personalized Bibles: section 2 lists them; section 3.1 states their King James Version text is reprinted exactly as published with no AI-generated text and cannot be edited; section 6 states they are sold and shipped to US addresses only, decided at the start from the approximate country of your connection, which is not stored; section 7.3 states their text is public domain and outside our license. Section 7.1 now covers a photo you give for a page inside your book as well as for its cover.
- September 28, 2026: Section 6.2 now states that a different voice is priced the same way as any audiobook of that book (the add-on price if you have bought, or are buying, a printed copy of it, and the standalone price otherwise), as checkout charges it, rather than always at the standalone price.
- September 27, 2026: Section 11.2 no longer says account deletion is immediate: it is permanent, but an order still being printed or shipped keeps the details needed to deliver it until it ships, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- September 26, 2026: Sections 2 and 6.1 now state that a journal made only of writing pages (lined, dot-grid or blank) comes as a PDF only, without an EPUB, because its pages carry no text for an e-reader to show. Spelling is also standardized to US English.
- August 30, 2026: Added audiobooks to section 2 and new section 6.2. An audiobook is a narrated MP3 of your book, read by a synthetic voice you choose and can sample before buying, sold in the US and Canada only and offered only for books with a written story. The downloaded recording is the product and is yours permanently; re-download is a convenience we host for ninety days from the date the recording is ready — shorter than a digital edition's twelve months because the file is far larger — with advance notice by email, the date shown on your Downloads page throughout, and the option to restore afterwards for credits, which begins a new ninety-day period. Restoring returns the same voice; choosing a different voice is a new purchase rather than a restore, because it is a different recording produced from the beginning. Audiobooks are non-refundable, with repair or re-delivery at no charge as the remedy for a faulty recording.
- August 27, 2026: Section 6.1 now gives the digital-edition re-download convenience a definite length rather than leaving it open-ended. It previously ran "while the Service operates" with an express statement that no copy was guaranteed to remain available; it is now twelve months from the date an edition is prepared, with advance notice by email, the date shown on your Downloads page throughout, and the option to restore access afterwards for a small number of credits, which begins a new twelve-month period. Files you have already downloaded are unaffected and remain yours permanently.
- August 22, 2026: Added digital editions (downloadable EPUB and PDF) to section 2 and new section 6.1: digital editions ship nothing and are sold in the US and Canada only; the downloaded files are the product and re-download access is a convenience we are not obligated to maintain if the Service is discontinued; digital editions are non-refundable, with repair or re-delivery at no charge as the remedy for a defective file. Also clarified that filler interiors are composed by our own software rather than by AI.
Rewrote section 7 to separate the printed book you own from the license to its content: a printed copy we deliver is yours to keep, and revocation no longer reaches it or requires you to destroy anything. Narrowed the resale restriction to commercial dealing (business, bulk, or marketplace listings) and to reproduction, rather than any sale of your own copy. Added ready-made stories to sections 2, 3.1, 7.2 and 7.5, with a plain statement that other customers receive the same underlying story, and an agreement not to sue over similarity between books. Extended the section 7.2 license so it covers filler and ready-made interiors as well as AI-generated text and cover artwork. Replaced “those remain ours” in section 7.3 so it points at section 7.5 and expressly excludes your own inputs and edits. Added anti-scraping and text-and-data-mining restrictions, a confidentiality section (7.7), a feedback section (7.8), a moral rights waiver in 7.1, a disclaimer of the implied warranty against infringement in section 9, printing partners and subcontractors as indemnified parties in section 10, a non-severability provision for the class action waiver (13.3), a consumer carve-out for the UK, EU and Canada (13.7), an expanded survival list in 11.3, and new sections 22 (changes to the Service) and 23 (export controls and sanctions). - July 23, 2026: Initial version.
