Personalized Bibles
The two texts a Personalized Bible can print, why the text cannot be edited, and where each one is sold.
Personalized Bibles
A Personalized Bible is a gift edition of one or more complete books of the Bible. You choose the gift, its cover and its title, write the dedication, and fill in its personal pages. The text itself is printed exactly as published.
Which Text It Prints
A Personalized Bible prints one of two texts, word for word:
- the King James Version, from its 1769 standard text, sold in the United States only; or
- the Berean Standard Bible, a modern English translation its publisher has dedicated to the public domain, sold wherever our other books are.
From the United States you choose between them when you start the book. From anywhere else you are offered the Berean Standard Bible. Each book listed on the gift is printed complete, from its first verse to its last, with nothing added. There are no notes or commentary. A page at the front of the book, About This Text, names the text it prints.
No AI writes or changes any of the text. AI makes the cover art, and the page art printed behind the text if you choose to include it.
Why Some Spelling Looks Old
The King James Version keeps the spelling and wording it was published with, including forms that differ from modern American spelling. We print them as they are; they are not mistakes. Words printed in italics are words the translators added to complete the sense in English, and the King James Version prints them that way too. The Berean Standard Bible is modern English and has neither.
A few verses found only in later manuscripts have no words in the Berean Standard Bible as its publisher issues it, so a Berean book prints nothing for them, just as the publisher’s text does.
Switching Texts
Until you approve the proof, you can switch a Personalized Bible between the two texts from its proof page at no charge (to the King James Version only from the United States). The book is set again in the new text, and the verse you chose moves to the same verse in that text (or, where a gift offers a different verse in the Berean Standard Bible, to that one). You then review and approve the new proof.
What You Can Change, and What You Cannot
You personalize the cover, the title, the dedication and the personal pages — such as a presentation page, a verse you choose, a record of a birth or a marriage, and, if you want one, a Family Record you can fill in by hand. The text of the Bible cannot be edited, so a Personalized Bible has no paragraph editing. When you review the proof, you are checking the names, title, dedication and personal pages.
If your printed copy ever differs from the published text — a missing or changed word, verse or chapter — that is our defect, and we put it right as described in our Refund Policy.
Where We Sell Them
A Personalized Bible printing the Berean Standard Bible ships wherever our other books do, and its digital edition and audiobook are sold wherever ours are. One printing the King James Version ships to US addresses only, whether printed, as a digital edition or as an audiobook, and is offered only to visitors in the United States; a cart holding one can only be checked out to a United States address.
One for Each Person
Every Personalized Bible is made for the people it names (one person, or a couple for The Gift of Love), with its own cover and its own pages. To give the same gift to several people — a class, or a whole family — open a book you have made and choose Make another for a different name. That starts a new book with your answers, cover and choices already filled in, so you only change the name and add a photo if you want one (a photo is never carried over, since it shows the first person). Each one is its own book on its own line of your order.
Credits
A Personalized Bible is made the way the editions we do not have to write for you are made, and costs the same in credits as they do when credits are needed. See Understanding Credits.
