Polishing Individual Paragraphs

Make small wording fixes to your finished book without regenerating it.

Polishing Individual Paragraphs

While your book is in Ready for Review status — before you approve it — you can make small, surgical fixes to individual paragraphs without regenerating the whole book. It is perfect for fixing a typo, correcting a detail, or smoothing an awkward sentence.

This is for books with a written story. A Journal Edition has no story prose in it, so there is nothing to polish and the option does not appear on that book’s proof page.

When to Use It

  • Polish Paragraphs — for small, specific fixes to the wording of a paragraph. The rest of the book stays exactly as it is.
  • Edit Answers & Regenerate — for bigger changes. This makes the book again from the answers you end up with. On a Written For You that means every chapter is written afresh; on a ready-made edition the same manuscript written in advance is assembled again, with your new details set into it. Either way it costs more than polishing does, and the exact amount depends on the edition you choose in that dialog — see Reviewing Your Book Proof.

Unlocking Paragraph Editing

On the proof page you will see a Polish Paragraphs option. Unlocking it is a one-time charge of 3 credits per book. Before you confirm, a dialog shows the cost, your current balance, your balance afterward, and the editing limits below. Once unlocked, paragraph editing stays available for that book until you approve it.

Editing a Paragraph

  1. Hover over the paragraph you want to change and click the pencil icon.
  2. Edit the text in the box that appears, then click Save.
  3. Your edited paragraph replaces the original in place, and you can go on to edit others.

Every saved edit is automatically checked for content-policy and copyright issues before it is accepted. Scene-break dividers (✦ ✦ ✦) cannot be edited, and each paragraph edit is limited to 5,000 characters.

Editing Limits

  • Up to 5 paragraphs per chapter.
  • Up to 20 paragraphs per book.
  • Edits can grow a chapter by at most 10% in length, so changes stay surgical.

If you reach a limit, revert an existing edit to free a slot, or use Edit Answers & Regenerate for larger rewrites.

Reverting an Edit

Changed your mind? Hover over the paragraph you edited and click the curved undo arrow below the pencil icon. Your original text comes back, the edit slot is freed, and it costs no credits. The undo arrow only appears on paragraphs you have actually changed.

Approving After Editing

If you made any paragraph edits, the approval checklist adds one extra box: “I confirm the paragraph edits I made are my own writing and I accept responsibility for them.” Your edited text is printed exactly as you wrote it.

Important Notes

  • The 3-credit unlock fee is not refundable — it is a one-time service charge per book.
  • If you later regenerate the book, all paragraph edits are cleared — regenerating replaces every chapter, whichever edition you pick — and the unlock fee is not returned.
  • Paragraph editing is only available before approval. Once you approve your book, the content is locked and can no longer be edited.
